Ken Carson Brings a Chaotic Homecoming to State Farm Arena
WRITTEN BY ALEXIS GARCIA - PHOTOS TAKEN BY ALEXIS GARCIAOn September 13, Atlanta’s State Farm Arena was packed with fans ready for Ken Carson’s hometown show. Before he even took the stage, the floor was already restless. Fans pushed into each other, pits opened throughout the crowd, and whenever someone went down, there was almost always someone reaching in to pull them back up. It was chaotic, but there was a real sense of community in the middle of it.
DJ Moon, Prettifun, and xaviersobased opened the night and kept the energy building. Their bass heavy sets had the floor moving early, and by the time Carson was set to come out, the crowd was already worked up and waiting for him.
Then the lights shifted.
When Carson finally took the stage, the arena erupted. The screams were almost as loud as the music, and the bass was heavy enough to feel through the floor. Carson didn’t spend much time talking between songs. He didn’t really need to. Fans knew every word and shouted them back at him while the floor seemed to move nonstop beneath them.
Being back in Atlanta also came with a few surprises. Apollo Red joined Carson for “9 Bitches,” immediately setting the crowd off again. Later, Destroy Lonely made an unexpected appearance, joining Carson for “The Acronym” and “Shopping.” Seeing the two back onstage together became one of the biggest moments of the night.
The guest appearances only added to the feeling that this was more than another stop on the tour. In Atlanta, those moments carried a little more weight.
By the end of the night, the crowd was sweaty, exhausted, and still moving. Even as the show came to a close, the energy on the floor barely let up. For one night, State Farm Arena felt like it belonged entirely to Carson and the hometown crowd.
